Randy Orton Injured – Possibly Out Of Action For Six Months

The Twitter feed of the WWE Insider reported last night during the SmackDown! tapings in Indianapolis that Randy Orton was injured. “BREAKING: @RandyOrton injured at #Smackdown in Indianapolis tonight. More details to follow on WWE.com as they become available,” the tweet read.

The WWE website quickly reacted to Orton’s injury, pulling him out of scheduled Street Fight Matches with Wide Barrett at the live events this weekend — a feud that was expected to take place for a few more months still. Sheamus has substituted for Orton against Barrett for now.

Orton was reportedly injured during a Falls Count Anywhere Match against Barrett at the tapings last night. The word backstage is that Orton suffered a back inury of some sort. The early prognosis for his injury isn’t looking great with the possibility that Orton could be out of action for at least 6 months — well past WrestleMania 28 in early April.

Report: The Reason For Zack Ryder’s New Storyline With Eve Torres

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that U.S. Champion Zack Ryder is being placed in a romance storyline with Eve Torres because of fear of that Ryder’s involvement in the main event the week prior may have actually caused a ratings drop-off.

We reported over the weekend that WWE was actually considering dropping the WWE Championship off CM Punk due to similar trends that suggest that viewers switch channels or channel surf when Punk appears on television.

The main event of last week’s six-man-tag match featuring Ryder, Punk, and Daniel Bryan vs The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler drew a 2.67 cable rating, which was not only the lowest-rated main event for RAW this year, but the lowest non-holiday main event since Dec. 8, 1997.

CM Punk Denied Entry Into Madison Square Garden Last Night

WWE Champion CM Punk was actually denied entry into a WWE house show in Madison Square Garden last night as he tried to get into the building. Apparently the security guard didn’t believe Punk was an actual pro wrestler but was eventually left in after another guard stepped in and let him into the building.

Later, Punk wrote about the situation on his Twitter. “Sellout the Horizon on a Monday, refused entry to the Garden on Tuesday. My life is awesome,” he wrote. “Some serious Larry David s–t.”

12-26: RAW Supershow Results : Kane Rise to HATE

CHICAGO — WWE Champion CM Punk’s Second City homecoming was marred by the underhanded actions of Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis and Dolph Ziggler, while the diabolical Kane finally shed some fire on his recent attacks on John Cena.

After two brutal assaults on John Cena, The Big Red Monster finally revealed why he targeted the Cenation leader. The monster’s reason? Hate.

Standing behind a wall of fire, Kane made it clear that he’s disgusted by Cena’s “Rise Above Hate” T-shirt slogan, because humans are hateful by nature. The twisted demon then said he’s going to help the powerful Superstar understand this by leading WWE fans in a chant of “Cena sucks! Cena sucks!” Some members of the WWE Universe followed Kane, others didn't, but the outcry seemed to shake the confident competitor.

Still sucking air after his first Gauntlet Match, Punk rallied against the talented, but arrogant Dolph Ziggler. That was until Mr. Laurinaitis stuck his nose in. Distracting The Straight Edge Superstar by making a mid-match announcement, the Interim Raw General Manager allowed Ziggler to steal one and earn a WWE Title opportunity against the champion next Monday night. The showoff was so pumped about his victory, he snatched Punk’s title and taunted a disgusted Chicago crowd.

Forced by Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis to face Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Mark Henry in a Gauntlet Match, WWE Champion CM Punk knew he had to dispatch of his first opponent early. It wasn't easy getting by the former World Heavyweight Champion, but even with the shrill Vickie Guerrero attempting to sway the bout for her client, The Straight Edge Superstar put Swagger to bed with a devastating roundhouse kick.

Alberto Del Rio vowed to be more ruthless (PHOTOS)
For once, The Mexican Aristocrat looked humbled. Rolled out in a wheelchair by Ricardo Rodriguez, Alberto Del Rio revealed that he suffered a torn groin in the previous Monday’s main event, which will cause him to miss some ring time. (FULL STORY) When WWE fans cheered his misfortune, Nikki and Brie Bella came to their crush’s defense, but only ended up bickering between themselves. Irritated, Del Rio sent the twins away and vowed to return more vicious than ever in 2012.

With one arm tied behind his back, Big Show squared off with the litigious David Otunga, but quickly learned he’d been set up. Sabotaged by the vicious Mark Henry, the giant was nearly brutalized until World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan hit the ring and distracted The World’s Strongest Man. Henry managed to escape before Show could destroy him, but Otunga wasn’t so lucky. The World’s Largest Athlete hit him with a chokeslam so huge, the lawyer may have forgotten where he went to college.

Outraged over Kane’s recent attacks, John Cena demanded The Big Red
Monster face him in the ring live in Chicago. Instead, he got The
Awesome One. Looking to end 2011 on a high note, The Miz challenged the
man he beat at WrestleMania XXVII and ended up getting tossed around by a very focused Cena.

Frustrated, Miz rolled out of the
squared circle and talked trash until he got counted out. But before he could escape without
any more damage, he was stopped by R-Truth. Returning after being put in
the hospital by The Awesome One, Truth recklessly battered his former friend around the ringside area and then warned, “This New Year’s, acquaintances be forgot? No! They’re going to get got!”

Now that Zack Ryder has the United States Championship, he’s set his sunglasses on a greater prize — Eve. Teaming with the gorgeous Diva after spoiling her with Broski merchandise for Christmas, Long Island Iced-Z proved that he can work very well with the former Divas Champion. Eve definitely enjoyed their success over Tyson Kidd & Natalya, but she doesn’t seem ready to accept Ryder’s offer for a date.

Aw, shucky ducky. Three days after his distraction caused Cody Rhodes to fall to Zack Ryder on SmackDown, Booker T beat his vicious rival in the ring with the scissors kick. The six-time World Champion proved that not only does he have Cody’s number, but he’s still got it in the ring.

Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis set a Gauntlet Match for WWE Champion CM Punk (PHOTOS)
The Chicago crowd hoping to give their hometown hero a rousing ovation was disappointed when Raw kicked off with Interim General Manager John Laurinaitis mocking CM Punk's signature entrance. With the WWE Champion's T-shirt pulled over his suit jacket, the executive proceeded to give himself credit for the exciting changes in sports-entertainment.

That was all it took to bring out a livid Second City Savior. Explaining that Raw’s revolution is due to Punk being “the best wrestler in the world,” the WWE Champion looked ready to hit the EVP with a GTS. That’s when Laurinaitis announced his idea for the evening — Punk will face three opponents in a Gauntlet Match and if any of those competitors beat the champion, they will receive a WWE Title Match next week on the first Raw of the New Year!

The Straight Edge Superstar was game, but he wanted to up the ante. If the tattooed Superstar beat all three Superstars, he proposed that he get a fourth match with none other than John Laurinaitis himself.

1344371027001|03:37As new World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan battled former United States
Champion Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger all circled
the action at ringside. But as tensions grew outside the ring, Swagger decided
to attack Show, leading to the two tussling in the ring. In an effort to avoid total
chaos, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long charged in and announced the bout
was now a tag team bout. After Big Show worked over Swagger pretty good, Bryan
seized the victory for his team by making The All-American American tap out to
his pain-inducing LeBell Lock.

Wade Barrett took to the ring and offered his view on his encounters with
Randy Orton and said Orton “…was one
of the greatest in the history of WWE, until he encountered Wade Barrett.” As
he finished his address, Barrett declared he should be next to face new World
Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Hearing enough of Barrett’s lip, The Viper
decided to let his actions do the talking by storming in and bringing the fight
to Barrett. As the two fought tooth-and-nail, they found themselves within the
parking garage of the Richmond Coliseum, where WWE’s Apex Predator brutally RKO’d Barrett onto the roof of a
parked car!

1344371065001|03:12Sheamus def. The Miz (WATCH | PHOTOS)

After Raw Superstar The Miz sauntered onto SmackDown – declaring he was going
to disrupt Teddy’s show – he perhaps bit off more than he could chew when Long
pit him against Sheamus. Although the former WWE Champion was a formidable foe,
he proved no match for The Great White’s brutal Brogue Kick.

called off

As the two massive former World Heavyweight Champions prepared to clash for the
opportunity to challenge Daniel Bryan, David Otunga called a stop to things. As
the legal counsel to Executive Vice Present of Talent Relations and Interim
General Manager of Raw John Laurinaitis, Otunga announced that Mark Henry was
not medically cleared to compete and the match would not take place. After
Otunga wished the WWE Universe happy holidays, Big Show dropped him with a
brutal WMD to the jaw.

United States Champion Zack Ryder def.
Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes in a Non-Title Match
(WATCH | PHOTOS)

1344371040001|02:09Fresh off his big win at WWE TLC, United States Champion Zack Ryder looked
sharp against Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. But Booker T decided to
interrupt their match and poke fun at his WWE TLC opponent by singing his own
rendition of the holiday classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The
distraction opened the door for Ryder to drop Rhodes with a Rough Ryder for the
win. Afterward, Booker added insult to injury with some more “singing.”

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel
Bryan evaluated himself
(PHOTOS)

The night kicked off with Big Show describing his pride in winning the title he
has sought for so long. But Mark Henry emerged to disparage Show and said he
should quit WWE. Moments later, World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan came to
the ring to compare himself to the rest of the WWE roster. After some
self-criticism, Bryan was proud to declare himself World Heavyweight Champion.

Then, when
Henry and Show argued about who should get a chance to face Bryan, Teddy
declared the two would square off, with the winner being first in line to
challenge him for his World Title. Next, Bryan feigned that he would shake hands with Henry, but then dissed The
World’s Strongest Man when went to accept.

The Reason That Kane Returned Wearing The Mask Again

At the conclusion of last night’s WWE 2011 Slammy Awards from Norfolk, Virginia, Kane reemerged, once again masked. The Big Red Monster locked his hand around the neck of John Cena and left him laying with a devastating chokeslam.

One reason for Kane resurfacing with a mask is because, believe it or not, WWE officials are looking to set a new Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people wearing costume masks” at WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami, Florida, according to the Wrestling Globe. The current record was set May 10, 2011 during a Major League Baseball game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago White Sox at Angel Stadium of Anaheim when roughly 25,000 fans donned red Lucha masks during a designated ten minute time period.
